After completing Admissions procedures, all students must arrange to take the Placement Test (Test of Adult Basic Education) prior to registration. The time and place for this test is published in the quarterly schedule or walk-in examinations can be taken by contacting the Librarian. Transfer Students with more than 30 credits are not required to take the Placement Test.
Admissions Procedure for Tribal Members for 1st or 2nd generation descendants
Applicants who are members or 1st or 2nd generation descendants of a federally recognized tribe must submit the following documents:

1. Application for Admission

2. Official, certified high school transcript (or G.E.D. scores); unofficial copy of the transcript is required for financial aid

3. Official, certified transcript from other institution(s) of higher education (if
appropriate)

4. Declaration of Major Form

5. Official, certified document verifying Student Services tribal enrollment or
1st or 2nd generation descendent of a federally recognized tribe

6. The Board of Directors and Administration support the Montana Immunization Law requiring students born before January 1, 1957 to have a T.B. skin test within the last five years. Students born after December 31, 1956 must
provide documentation for T.B. Skin test taken within the last five years
and two doses of measles vaccine (first dose after 12 months of age and
one after 1967). A health care provider signature is required to verify
immunizations.
Admissions Procedure for non-Tribal Members
Applicants who are non-tribal members must submit all of the preceeding documents except #5.

Special Admission for High School Students
A currently enrolled high school senior may apply for admission to take regular college courses. This special admissions program has been established to serve high school students who wish to supplement their educational program with college level course work. Students applying for admission under this program must complete the normal admissions procedure and provide documentation of approval by parents and high school officials.
Admission Procedure for Foreign Students
1. Obtain the Immigration Form I-20AB or I20-MN (necessary for obtaining an F-1 or M-1 student visa) from SKC Admissions Officer.

2. Complete application procedures 1 through 5 of the Admissions Procedure for non-Tribal Members as outlined in preceding section.

3. Demonstrate English proficiency in one of the following ways:
• Documented completion of 3 academic years of high school English
• Documented completion of 2 college level English courses; or
• A score of 500 on the TOEFL test of English as a second language.

4. Submit a statement of financial support. The applicant must submit a certified statement from a bank or sponsor verifying that adequate financial resources are available to pay for the student’s estimated expenses for the first year. This amount is published annually and can be obtained from Enrollment Services.

5. Verify all credentials.
